Standing With You on the Journey to Healing and Liberation

A Message From Our Executive Director

devord
At Pathways to Freedom, we believe every individual we serve deserves to be supported, respected, and empowered. We understand that substance use, mental health struggles, and the challenges of re-entry are not personal failures they are the predictable outcomes of structural racism, under-resourced neighborhoods, and systemic inequity.

Our mission is to provide a safe, culturally grounded space where healing is possible and dignity is restored. Through peer-led recovery support, mental health care, and community advocacy, we walk alongside individuals every step of the way not just responding to hardship, but confronting the systems that create it. Whether someone is seeking emotional support, practical resources, or a community that truly understands their experience, our team is here to help build a stronger, more stable path forward.

    OUR COMMON FAQS

    Frequently Asked Questions

Who does Pathways to Freedom serve?
We serve Black, Indigenous, and People of Color across the Twin Cities who are navigating substance use, mental health challenges, re-entry after incarceration, or other systemic barriers to stability and wellness
What kind of support can I expect?
Our support is trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and led in part by people with lived experience. Depending on your needs, that can include peer recovery mentorship, licensed mental health counseling, re-entry support, or connections to resources like housing, healthcare, and job training.
Do I need to be in crisis to reach out?
No. While we do offer crisis intervention and support coordination, you don't need to be in crisis to connect with us. Many people come to Pathways to Freedom for ongoing peer support, life skills workshops, or community connection long before or after a crisis point.
Is there a cost for your services?
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our programs are designed to be accessible to the communities we serve. (Confirm with client: are all services free, or is there a sliding scale/insurance component for clinical counseling?)
How is Pathways to Freedom different from other support organizations?
We don't treat substance use, mental health struggles, or re-entry as isolated personal issues. We address them as the predictable outcomes of systemic racism and inequity pairing direct peer support with advocacy that works to change the systems creating these barriers in the first place.
